Worth Looking Into

An appeal to the adjectival naming body for holiday weekdays

Black Friday. Now CyberMonday (or CyberMondays if you will). Don't the other holiday days deserve techno adjectives too? I propose:

  • Hyper Tuesday
  • WWWWednesday
  • Information Superhighway Thursday

  • TCP/IP Friday (for all those poor Fridays after Black Friday)

Chumby - what the?

As if i'm not online enough already, now there's a friendly little hunk of chumby to make that always-on(line) experience cuter, personal and more animated.

Ingenuity and the social web?

We're gearing up for our annual DoubleClick Performics client summit, Aug 13-14 in our hometown, Chicago. We've got Steven "Freakonomics" Levitt delivering our keynote. Lots of great networking and info sharing sessions too.

Can't wait to see all our clients and partners here in Chicago. Some pple may be disappointed that we're breaking our tradition of Cubs skyboxes, but we have an amazing event planned for Shedd Aquarium, easily the best venue in Chicago for a party.

I'll be hosting a panel featuring founders of some of the coolest "social web" properties out there: Jeffrey Kalmikoff from Threadless, Meetro and BazaarVoice. Our theme is the age of ingenuity, and the social web is spinning out some unbelievably ingenious ideas right now. If you're coming, or even if you're not (sorry, by invite only!), I'd love to hear your thoughts on what's most ingenious about the space right now. What would you ask these leaders in the space if you couldn't just track them down on linked in, facebook or their own sites and ask them yourself ;-)

I'll be posting more on this panel as it approaches. Fire me your thoughts by email or in comments...

BlueFlip Art - sites helping artists sell their stuff

Lots of sites cropping up to sell art online. This one deals in edgier, outside art ("not your father's prints", as they say: BlueFlip Art. Our mission is to get great giclee prints into the hands of the public at low prices (many are less than $20!).  Attractive site and interesting work. Kind of an art.com or allposters.com play, as a direct play, promoting work of a limited number of artists and producing the giclee prints themselves.

I also really like LUMAS, a site selling works by established photographers. Custom sizes and framed or un. Great selection of photography and spectacular site.

Facebook app ad networks - coming soon?

Keep an eye on... lookery and fbExchange. Announced Facebook application ad networks. fbExchange is like a webring for apps. Lookery is, like, a page with an email sign-up form. AllFacebook.com via Searchviews.com.
